Are We Too Expensive?
Well...
Are we?
That's really a tough question to answer. I'd say at times we could be, but we recognize some make think so.
Why am I discussing this today? Simple...I want to share how we respect we aren't always cheap.
First I think its a good idea to share what options are clients have. We classify our main portrait offering into 3 categories.
1. Artist Series
2. Masters Series
3. QuickTakes
I'll start with the 3rd option, our QuickTakes. These are :10-:15 minutes session with the objective of providing a very good image for a very affordable price. Typically these sessions are $100 and include 2 5x7 prints and a digital social media file. We try and offer 9 different themed sessions each year. Easter, Back To School are a good example of a few.
We do this for 2 reasons. The main reason is we want a very affordable option for the community and all of our clients. We don't want to think it's always going to cost you a lot of money to have a quality portrait.
Our Artist Series is our top offering. It doesn't mean it's always the most expensive. We try and offer 3 different Artist series sessions per year. This includes our award winning Magic of Santa sessions and this year we will be announcing a session we've been working on for 2.5 years. These sessions will offer wall portraits, story books and have editing that wins international awards.
The Master Series is one of my favorites. These are fine art portraits and designed become heirloom images. We call it the Master Series because Chris is the one capturing the image, editing the image and printing the image. These fine art images are registered in a fine art gallery and will live in perpetuity. A certificate of authenticity is included with each image and for generations someone finding this certificate will follow a link to see details of the subject and the date it was created. These range from $500 to thousands depending on final presentation of the art.
So are we too expensive? I don't think so...we believe we offer a number of options for all of our clients.
If you are interested in any of these sessions follow our Facebook and Instagram page or reach out to us here.
Chris Fritchie
Master Photographer, Master Artist
Chris and Lori Fritchie opened Magic Makers Studio (Chris Fritchie Studios) in the fall of 2015 with one goal in mind. That goal was to create high end Sant Portraits to the Dallas/Ft. Worth Community. With no experience in the Santa world, they opened the studio in mid- November with a goal of doing 15 sessions. After Christmas the studio would focus on Families, Seniors, and commercial clients. Lori and Chris were not prepared for the surge and popularity of their Santa program. The first year the studio did 45 sessions! At the end of the season Chris and Lori knew they were on to something special. The business doubled in 2016. In 2019 Lori, earned her Master of Education and joined the studio full time. We trademarked “The Magic of Santa®” and now have one of the top Santa programs in the country.
Chris has been a member of PPA since 2010. During the first 9 years as a member Chris wasn’t active in print competition or trying to earn a degree. Chris’ path to a portrait photographer began in 2006 as an editorial photographer. With over 150 cover images and thousands of published images Chris needed a change. Opening the studio provided that change. Once the studio was on firm footing Chris began his journey into print competition with a hefty goal of earning both his Master Photography and Master Artist degree in 3 IPC’s. At Imaging USA in January of 2022 Lori walked Chris across the stage to receive both degrees.
Chris has spoken at Imaging USA, taught at Texas School, given programs to various state and local guilds and does private mentoring for those wanting to start their own Santa program.
Lori has her Master of Education and is our Studio and Sales Manager for the studio. As a professionally trained educator Lori brings years of experience to the programs they offer. Before working in education Lori worked in a graphics position for an energy company where she taught herself Photoshop and was a hobbyist photographer that did some side work for friends and family. During Lori’s time in education, including her experience as a high school assistant principal, she learned valuable training on effectively working with instructors to assist them in improving their teaching skills.
Recently Lori has started working towards her PPA degrees and entering print competition.
Lori and Chris are active members in DPPA, TPPA, as well as PPA.
